Terms of Service
Effective Date: September 1, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and CaseSignal LLC ("CaseSignal," "we," "us"), 245 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. They govern your use of the CaseSignal website, application, and related services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using CaseSignal on behalf of a law firm, you represent that you have authority to bind that firm, and "you" includes the firm.
1. The Service
CaseSignal helps attorneys and their staff keep clients informed. It generates draft client updates from documents you upload and from case management data you connect, and it sends those updates only after a member of your firm has reviewed and approved them. It also provides client-facing case status pages you may choose to share.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
The service is intended for licensed attorneys, law firms, and their authorized staff. You must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
Plans. CaseSignal is offered on a subscription basis. Current plans, prices, and included features are described on our pricing page at the time you subscribe. Prices are in U.S. dollars.
Free trial. New subscriptions may include a free trial period as stated at checkout. A payment method is required to start a trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and the payment method on file is charged for the first billing period.
Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically each month, and your payment method is charged at the start of each billing period, until you cancel.
Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from the Billing page in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods except where required by law.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. A price change applies at your next renewal after the notice period. If you do not agree with the new price, you may cancel before it takes effect.
Payment processing.Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms and authorize recurring charges to your payment method. Failed payments may result in suspension of access until payment is resolved.
Taxes. Prices exclude any applicable sales or use taxes, which will be added where we are required to collect them.
4. Your Professional Responsibility
CaseSignal is a drafting and delivery tool. It is not a lawyer and does not provide legal advice. Every draft it produces is a suggestion. You are solely responsible for reviewing each communication for accuracy, completeness, tone, and compliance with your professional obligations before you approve it, and you retain full professional responsibility for everything sent to your clients through the service. You are also responsible for determining whether your use of the service, including the placement of client information in it, is consistent with your jurisdiction's rules of professional conduct.
5. Email and Case Management Integrations
When you connect a Google account, CaseSignal sends email on your behalf only when you approve a specific draft. We do not read, store, or modify your existing email. When you connect a case management system such as Clio, we read the case, contact, calendar, and document information needed to provide the service; we do not write to or alter your case management data. You may disconnect either integration at any time. Your use of Google and Clio remains subject to their own terms.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the service to send unsolicited or deceptive communications, to communicate with anyone who is not your client or otherwise entitled to the information, to upload content you do not have the right to use, to interfere with the operation or security of the service, or to violate any law or rule of professional conduct. We may suspend accounts engaged in prohibited use.
7. Your Content and Our Property
You retain all rights to the case information, documents, and communications you place in CaseSignal ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide the service to you. We do not use Your Content to train artificial intelligence models. CaseSignal, its software, and its branding are owned by CaseSignal LLC and protected by intellectual property law; these Terms do not grant you any rights in them beyond the right to use the service.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI-generated drafts will be accurate or complete, that email will be delivered, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error free.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CaseSignal LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify CaseSignal LLC against claims, damages, and expenses arising from Your Content, from communications you approve and send through the service, or from your breach of these Terms.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends, and we will handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts serving Franklin County, Virginia, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, each party agrees to attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally by contacting the other.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will update the effective date above and notify account holders by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
